The Harrah College of Hospitality is committed to maintaining a high level of quality with the graduate assistant (GA) appointments. Below outlines the college’s GA policies for students interested in a GA appointment within the college.
Graduate Assistantship Hours
Harrah College of Hospitality GA appointments will either be awarded for 10 or 20 hours per week. International students on an F-1 visa are not allowed to work more than 20 hours per week during the fall and spring term. Therefore, international students appointed a 20-hour GA appointment are not eligible for part-time Curricular Practical Training (CPT) during the fall or spring terms. Once students receive their GA assignment, they are responsible for connecting with the faculty member to arrange their weekly work hours throughout the semester.
GA Evaluation Process
Each semester, GAs will be evaluated by their faculty supervisor(s) on their performance during the semester and if reappointment for the next semester should be considered. The fall GA evaluation process takes place at the end of October and at the end of March for spring.
